Front Porch Update and Bench Roundup

A porch bench adds beauty and functionality to your outdoor space, but it can be daunting to find just the right one. This post contains a roundup of some of the best porch benches available, and shows how to style them.

This front porch makeover was supposed to be a quick project that would be finished by Father's Day for Jeff. He loves sitting on the front porch with our dogs, so I set out to gift him a front porch makeover. In my mind, it was a no-brainer to get this done in time for the big day, but per usual, there were inevitable delays and continual distractions, which kept me from being able to reveal the completed porch.

Front Porch Progress

But it's all okay because I was at least able to give him the gift of front porch sitting in time for Father's Day. After months of looking, I finally ordered this incredible wooden porch bench, and despite delays, it showed up in time to assemble and style it. It was definitely an investment, but I know it'll hold up to the elements and last for years to come. Plus, it's big enough for our whole family, which isn't typical of a big box store bench.closeup of striped jute rug and pink flowersI also partnered with Rugs USA on the perfect striped jute rug to go under the bench. It looks so high end, but is really affordable, and adds just the right amount of texture, warmth, and comfort to our front porch.

I knew I wanted to add some big, comfy pillows to the front porch bench, but I didn't want them to be too precious to be outside. These beauties, designed by Studio McGee for Target, fit the bill perfectly. They have a jute-like texture to them but are nice and squishy. I love the texture and subtle pattern, not to mention the gorgeous rust-colored stripes. frontal view of porch bench with large pillow and blanket

Front Porch Moment

I love to create moments in my home, and the front porch is no different. This moment, with the beautiful bench detail, fluted concrete side table, and potted plants just does it for me. side of wooden porch bench with concrete side table and potted plantsOh, and I added a ficus tree to the front porch just for some more interest and greenery. My goal is to layer in even more ferns and flowers to create a cozy garden feel out here. I'm hoping to have giant ferns like these! We still also have to add a railing to the front of the porch, build and install oversized shutters, and find (or build) an outdoor coffee table that's the right size...it needs to be super narrow so I may end up DIYing it. wooden porch bench on top of striped jute rugWe are all thrilled with the progress of the front porch, and we've already had compliments from neighbors walking by. The only thing that matters to me though is whether or not Jeff likes it, and it's safe to say he loves it.

Thanks for following along with our front porch project. It's been so fun to finally tackle part of our outdoor space, and I'm feeling great about the progress we've made. Now I can't wait to finish it up before our floors go in! Until next time, signatureYou might also be interested in:https://wildflowerhomeinteriors.com/5-steps-to-finding-your-style/https://wildflowerhomeinteriors.com/storybook-style-bathroom-refresh/https://wildflowerhomeinteriors.com/the-history-of-our-antique-chest/
