Pinterest Faves and Saves - Something Looks Familiar
It's my favorite time of the month; Pinterest Faves and Saves time! I start every month by compiling five of my favorite pins from the last thirty days that have inspired me in a very specific way. I save images for project ideas, paint colors, the feel a space gives me, visual confirmation of a design decision, and sometimes just the tiniest detail. February's Pinterest Faves and Saves is a little different. As I was pulling my favorite pins, I noticed that in the majority of them, something looked familiar. Then, I realized what it was...they remind me of spots in my own home. I'm not sure if this is a case of being drawn to something because it's familiar, or just seeing more of a certain thing because it's now a part of your life (ever notice this when you're buying a car?). In any case, it was fun looking through different interpretations of the same general color schemes, styled "moments," and the feeling of a space. Let's take a look at what's familiar about these pins:
Styled "Moment" With Vintage Furniture
This pin reminds me of the killer vintage chest in our downstairs hallway and the upstairs hallway "moment" I created with thrifted finds. I'm crushing hard on the use of muted, rich colors. It's my goal to layer a lot more of this type of color into our home this year, so I'm taking notes and studying this one.
Wallpaper With an English Cottage Vibe
After installing a large-scale patterned wallpaper to create an English cottage vibe in Noelle's room, I'm seeing this lovely look more and more...and loving it more and more. Noelle and I didn't even know this was the aesthetic we were going for, but we are so happy it turned out that way.
Olive Green Paneled Walls
Oooooookay...this one stopped me in my scroll. I just want to be in this room. The perfect olive-colored paneling, of course, reminds of our cozy reading nook, but that blue buffalo check fabric completely caught me off guard in the best way. As I'm slowly pulling our family room together, this space is giving me major inspiration. From the multi-colored rug to the addition of blue to the leather ottoman, I feel like I finally have a visual guide to how I want our family room to look and feel.
Soothing But Interesting Master Bedroom
Sometimes I just get lost in the way an image makes me feel, and then I realize it's because it has a familiar feeling that I'm trying to create in my own home. That's the case with this master bedroom that is neutral and soothing, but still interesting...always a goal of mine. Our master bedroom is pretty neutral, and I've been wanting to refresh it, but this gives me a renewed love of neutral, textured spaces.
The Tiniest Pleated Fabric Shade
Everything about this space is a scroll stopper, but it's that little pleated shade that caught my eye. I recently made pleated fabric shades for lamps in Hannah's room because I've been wanting to add them to our house but they are so expensive. I can't wait to share the tutorial with you because everyone should have these cuties in their home. Well, that's it for this month's Pinterest Faves and Saves. Do you ever scroll Pinterest and find that you are drawn to the familiarity of images? It was so interesting to see some of my design decisions reflected in the pins I've saved in the last month, and now I'm excited for a few ideas that were sparked from this post. Pinterest has a way of doing that.Do you use Pinterest? It is such a wonderful tool for design, DIY, and everything else under the sun. I'd love for you to join me over on Pinterest, where I'm always gaining new inspiration and sharing lots of ideas.
