I recently moved my favorite round mirror back into our bedroom when I gave this space a relaxed elegance refresh. That change got me thinking about the different ways I’ve styled our dresser, and I thought you might like to see our dresser decor 3 different ways.
Dresser Decor Look #1
As our bedroom has evolved, it’s been fun to try different looks by getting creative with decor we already had. You’ll notice that many of the styling pieces remain the same in all three looks. I’ve discovered that by simply changing the arrangement of items, I can achieve a whole new look for zero dollars.
In the first iteration of our dresser decor 3 different ways, I traded a big black TV for a beautiful arrangement of accessories. You can see the crazy before in this post. We’ve never looked back after removing the TV from our master bedroom!
I started with my favorite affordable round mirror. This mirror has been with us through three different houses, and I continue to love it.
Next, I layered in some beautiful and meaningful artwork in front of the mirror. This added dimension and interest, as well as a backdrop for the accessories out front. I then balanced the artwork with a thrifted large-scale lamp on the other side of the dresser. The jute tassel was a Joann’s find, and I just love how fun it is.
Finally, I accessorized the dresser with a wood chain, design books and a live plant to bring in some brightness. I loved this look! That probably had something to do with the fact that it replaced our TV, and literally anything was better than that.
Of course, our dresser decor looked even better next to our custom drapes.
Dresser Decor Look #2
This second look was created after I painted a faux gilded finish on a Facebook Marketplace mirror I scored. I wanted it to look like this mirror, and I got pretty close!
I moved the round mirror out to the family room temporarily, which meant I needed a new one for here. This was a beautiful stand-in, and it was fun to have a pop of gold here for awhile.
As for the accessories, the only thing I did was rearrange them a bit and I had a whole new look!
I also swapped out the more casual white lamp for this beautiful cream lamp that’s even larger, if you can believe it. I loved the formality and drama of it all, especially when I decorated for Christmas.
Dresser Decor Look #3
Ultimately though, I decided I loved the shape of the round mirror better than the gold one, so I brought it back in for the latest look. Not only did I swap out the mirrors, but I changed the lamp for a third time. This one’s a keeper. I found the vintage base at an estate sale years ago and added my favorite lampshade to create a thing of beauty.
The design books and plant stayed the same, as well as the wood chain and other little accessories. The cloud art is new (and printable) and simply stunning. And I placed the old man art (that has literally been everywhere in my house) here because he’s perfect.
I’ve been slowly adding more muted but saturated color to our home, and this third look reflects that. This particular combination holds my interest and feels like me. The aged dresser, different shapes, muted colors, and interesting objects all play together and make my eyes happy every time I walk into our bedroom. Now to achieve that harmony in the rest of the house…
Personal design takes time, and I hope showing you our dresser decor 3 different ways proves that it’s worth taking the time to get it right…for you. Anyone can create a beautiful moment with the right decor pieces. But letting a space evolve and become a reflection of who you are requires patience, a bit of creativity, and a willingness to try different things.

Where is your black dresser from? It’s beautiful!
Hi there and thank you so much! It’s from Pottery Barn but discontinued. However, they do have a similar one on their site.
I like # 3. Love the lamp bottom and the cloud Art. I’m enjoying your aesthetic!
Well thank you Lois! #3 is definitely my favorite, though I could easily live with #1 and #2 for the rest of my life and be happy.
Number 1 is my favorite….simple and elegant.
I loved look #1 for a long time, and still love it. I just wanted a bit more color and interest. Love you mama!
I remembered your IG post about moving the TV out of the bedroom and I think that is when I started following you. I have really learned a lot about having patience with personal design. It does take time. Thanks for sharing your design knowledge and sewing talents. I am still in awe of that bedskirt for Hannah 😉
Awwww, I’m so glad you’re here Marilyn. Everything that’s good takes time, but it’s hard waiting isn’t it? Hannah’s bed skirt is definitely one of my favorite things in my house!
Look #2 (did you really pay that much for that lamp?!). I love how the gold trim on the lamp speaks to the gold of the mirror. Very lovely with the rest of your accessories.
No I didn’t! Found it at Home Goods for $60 but I have to link things for readers no matter the cost because everyone wants to know where things are from 😊
