Our House Was In a Music Video

When we sold our former home and moved into a rental house, I never would have dreamed it would have so many guests and see so much action (including being in a music video) in the time we were there! We truly lived a year’s worth of life in that beautiful home in only six months.

The Day We Moved In –

I remember feeling a sense of emptiness when we first moved in. It felt so clinical and devoid of any character. I knew once we moved our things in however, it would begin to feel like home. I had to repeatedly tell my family, “Stuff makes a home” because they were feeling the lack of warmth in that house as well. Sure enough, as soon as our belongings began finding their places in the rental, we all felt a sense of familiarity.

After We Moved Our Stuff In –

I didn’t know it at the time we moved in, but it would be such an honor to live there for the time that we did. We hosted some of our family that needed a place to reunite, my daughter had her 13th birthday and first slumber party there, and a Christian music video was shot in the living room!

Every person who walked through the doors of that rental house commented on the natural light. It was incredible, and apparently perfect for shooting a music video. I understood why. I rarely had to brighten my photos of this space because the light was pouring in from every angle.

When our friend, Jon Steingard, of Hawk Nelson and Steingard Creative, approached me and asked if he could shoot the lyric video for “Well Done” by The Afters, of course I said yes!

It was a fun day of watching Jon do what he’s so good at, and being grateful that this rental home we were so unsure of was being used for God’s glory.

You just never know who will be blessed by the beauty you create within your home, and I’m beyond blessed to share mine (my former, temporary home…ha!) with you.

Without further ado, HERE IS THE VIDEO that was shot in the living room of our rental home.

Tena!!!!! Hello! Jon Steingard is a close friend of ours, so having him use the rental God provided for us until we found our current home was such a treat. So fun to see you comment on here. It’s been SO long!

This is so beautiful! It made me cry. Praise God for beauty and for those like you who create it, in the name of the Creator.

Thank you Tracey! There’s no other name I’d do it for but Christ Jesus.

I love the song too! It was cool to see Jon’s vision of using picture frames around the room come to life.
