3 of My Favorite Green Paint Colors (as seen in my home)

It's no secret that I love the color green, but there's a special place in my heart for the three green paint colors in my home. They're muted, moody and perfectly calming. But let's face it, it's easy for me to say these paint colors are beautiful...they work well in my home. The question is "Why?" In this post, I'm answering that question and offering some considerations for each paint color. So if you're thinking about using a green paint color in your home, read on to find out why these are three of the best shades out there.

#1 | Evergreen Fog

Evergreen Fog was the Sherwin Williams color of the year in 2022, and it's not hard to see why. It's the perfect gray-green paint color that works whether you want dark and moody or light and airy. I used it on the vertical shiplap walls in Hannah's bedroom. She only has one window, so it gives a nice moody vibe without feeling like a cave. Because this is a lighter, warm sage color but has cool, gray undertones, you can use it in small spaces with very little light and it won't feel dark. Be careful about using this green paint color in spaces with a lot of natural light though, as it can look almost pastel. In my opinion, this color looks best with lots of shadows and indirect light.

#2 | Pristine Wilderness

Pristine Wilderness is a Sherwin Williams for HGTV Home green paint color, and it is so good. It's a nice, saturated, almost-hunter green, and it couldn't be more perfect with the Raphael in Green wallpaper I installed in our guest room/office. I had originally painted all the walls this gorgeous green color because it was so good. This room has a 12-foot vaulted ceiling and two windows, so the dark green paint did not feel heavy or cave-ish. What makes Pristine Wilderness work well is that it strikes the perfect balance of being not too warm and not too cool. It is the most pure green paint color I've ever seen or used, and even though it's a dark green, it doesn't feel heavy or dated. It's perfect.

#3 | Farm to Table

Farm to Table by Sherwin Williams for HGTV Home is the most requested paint color in my home. What's interesting about this green paint color is that it is one shade lighter than Pristine Wilderness. I chose this warm gray-green because our family room has skylights, which means the lighting in here is strangely blue. And you would think I'd need to use a warm, olive shade of green to offset that. But olive looks very wrong in here. The cool, gray undertones in Farm to Table compliment the lighting in our family room, while the warmth of the paint balances out the coolness of this space. I sampled this paint color in our guest room/office and did not care for it. It looked brighter and had less depth with direct sunlight hitting it. But in our family room, it's the perfect shade that both calms and inspires me on a daily basis.
