5 Tasteful Valentine's Decorating Ideas
Think Valentine's décor for your home is tacky? Think again. These tasteful valentine's decorating ideas will help you achieve the feel of Valentine's day rather than the obvious look of it.
Tasteful Valentine's Decorating Idea #1: Flower Arrangement
A flower arrangement is one of the easiest tasteful valentine's decorating ideas for your home. For this one, I bought three bunches of flowers from Trader Joe's and added in some greenery from my yard. Simple, inexpensive, and very "Valentine's-ey" according to my girls.
Tasteful Valentine's Decorating Idea #2: Pillow Covers
I believe in capsule decorating for your home. This means having several foundational pieces, and only switching up one or two items according to season. I only changed one pillow (added the black and cream Susan Connor one) because my Christmas jewel-toned pillows worked perfectly for Valentine's day. If you start with two to three neutral pillows, you can simply change out one or two of them and have a completely different look.
Tasteful Valentine's Decorating Idea #3: Rattan Heart Wreath
Finally! A tasteful Valentine's wreath that can be used year after year in so many ways. I was so happy when I found one of these at Target in a nearby town after a fruitless search online and the stores closest to me. This is one of those rare seasonal décor pieces that you can keep for a long time, reusing and re-imagining it every Valentine's day. I attached the rattan wreath to my over-sized Aimee mirror with Frog tape. Then I added a beautiful, draped, blush satin bow to the heart. I love how subtle yet festive it is. This is such a fun spot to decorate seasonally. I think it's helpful to pick a few places in your home that you'll dress up for different seasons, as it prevents over-decorating as well as paralysis by analysis. You could use this rattan heart wreath on your front door, your stove hood, on a mirror over a mantel, or just about anywhere that could use some tasteful Valentine's décor.
Tasteful Valentine's Decorating Idea #4: Pink Candle
This idea is so simple that I almost didn't include it. But it's so simple that I felt I HAD to include it. This candle from Target is the right shade of pink, smells amazing, and is a soy candle. Seriously, this is the easiest Valentine's decorating idea! The goal here is creating a festive feel in your home without overthinking it. Don't forget to burn your new candle so your whole house smells amazing and sets the tone for Valentine's day.
Tasteful Valentine's Décor Idea #5: Printable Art
It's no secret that I love art. Changing up the printable art in these two frames is one of my favorite ways to add tasteful seasonal décor to my home. Again, no need to get literal here. It's best to select art that "feels" like Valentine's rather than screams it. This "Darling, I love you" print has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I finally found a place to use it. When I came across this beautiful "Cracked Flower" print, I knew it was the perfect subtle touch I was looking for. Layering both of these prints added whimsy and drama to our entry for Valentine's day. My girls love it!
