6 Classic, Happy Wallpaper Choices For Noelle's Room

Today's post is all about the six classic, happy wallpaper choices I gave Noelle, and which one she chose!six wallpaper samples on blue wallI can't believe I'm typing this, but Noelle's room has now been in progress since late 2018 (room design post here). Part of the reason it has taken so long is because we keep having setbacks in our efforts to get this space juuuuuust right. Noelle loves design, but struggles with decision-making, so I've had a very involved 11-year-old who can't make up her mind, and that has been interesting to navigate. It's all just part of getting to know my baby girl, and I'm okay with it. One of the main setbacks we've had is wallpaper. Noelle originally fell in love with lemon wallpaper from Lulu & Georgia, but she also fell in love with an amazing vintage rug from Revival. Once the rug and the wallpaper were in the same space, they didn't work. Let me show you what I mean...lemon wallpaper with blue wallsNoelle and I both loved that lemon wallpaper hard. It was so cute and cheery, but when I gave Noelle an ultimatum between the rug and the wallpaper, she chose the rug. So, down came the wallpaper as fast as it went up. Now we're back to choosing a paper that goes with the beautiful vintage rug and the blue paint color on the walls. I ordered six classic, happy wallpaper samples from wallpaperdirect.com/us and taped them to the wall so Noelle could pick her favorite. six classic wallpapers taped to a blue wallThey're all Morris & Co., all classic, beautiful, and I would have been good with any of them.

Then we eliminated the lemon wallpaper because even though we both loved it, lemons just aren't right with the rug. Now it was down to two...multi-colored wallpaper on blue wallblue and yellow wallpaper on blue wallsThis time around, we can't afford to mess up our wallpaper selection, so I took a copious amount of pictures in order to be able to evaluate every angle, the lighting, how it goes with the rug, etc. blue built in shelves with wallpaper sampleblue built ins with wallpaper sampleI also created two mockups on Photoshop so Noelle could get an idea of how both papers would look with her rug. The pattern scale isn't right with these, but they did help her make up her mind. This Meadow Sweet wallpaper is what Noelle and I both said we'd like the best from the start. After taping up the samples, we were even more sure of it, but wanted to be absolutely sure. wallpaper mockupOnce I showed Noelle this mockup, we both agreed it was too busy and matchy-matchy with the rug. So, the final decision was made...pink and blue wallpaper mockupWe are going with Meadow Sweet by Morris & Co., and I couldn't be happier with this selection. It's a classic, happy wallpaper that will grow with Noelle in this room. close up of Meadow Sweet wallpaperThe next decisions that have to be made in here are about adding windows (we've been back and forth on this for so long), changing the blue wall color to something a tad more muted, fabric choices and bedding. We're buying Noelle's desk this week, and then I'll be adding lamps and working on the bed skirt and window seat cushion. Things are really coming along in here, and my goal is to be completely done by February. Which paper was your favorite out of the six? Would you have chosen the paper Noelle chose? Tell me below!signature
