2020 Year In Review | 2021 Plans and Goals
Another Christmas season is about to come to a close, and I can't help but do what I do every year at this time...reflect and look ahead in my annual year in review post. I'm sharing YOUR favorite posts of the year, reviewing the projects I completed, and forecasting what this next year will look like. Click through for a look at Wildflower Home Blog in 2020. To be completely honest, I didn't want to look back at the year in review for 2019. I figured it would leave me discouraged at the lack of progress I made this past year, especially considering the strange pivot we all had to make mid-March and the fact that I was thrust into homeschooling full time. But after looking at it, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I did complete and how many of my goals I did achieve. It reinforced how important these year in review posts are for shifting my mindset and renewing my enthusiasm for the year ahead. So, let's get into it...

10. Collected Staircase Gallery Wall
I had been wanting to switch up our staircase gallery wall since creating the first iteration right after we moved in. When I borrowed one of the art pieces for another spot, it was the perfect opportunity to reimagine this wall and put together a collected staircase gallery wall. 9. Gilded Mirror Makeover
This was a fast and fun DIY project I completed in a few hours that completely transformed an inexpensive second-hand mirror I purchased. Sometimes the simplest projects can make the biggest impact. 8. Affordable Sconce Lighting and Sconce Tour of Our Home
In this post, I took you on a tour of all the sconce lighting in our home, and you loved it! I think it's so helpful to see how lighting is incorporated into design, and I enjoyed showing you all the different, unique sconces we have throughout our house. 7. Simple Hallway Refresh 
Okay, though this came in at #7 on the list of your favorite blog posts, you went crazy for it over on Instagram. It's my most-liked image of all time, but I'm most happy that you all share my love of antique furniture. 6. 7 Secrets to Scoring Big on Facebook Marketplace
My house wouldn't be furnished if it weren't for Facebook Marketplace, and in this post, I shared how I've found so many treasures and quality home goods by utilizing the genius app. I've scored some pretty amazing pieces, and I teach you how you can too. 5. Hannah's Timeless Teen Bedroom Makeover
Hannah's room was a true labor of love and a project that delightfully distracted me during the height of quarantine. I completed everything from installing vertical planks to making her velvet headboard to wrapping her custom desk in grass cloth. There were so many DIYs that I lost count, but the end result was well worth all the time and energy spent. 4. Kitchen and Breakfast Nook Budget Breakdown
After I revealed our budget kitchen makeover, you were all interested in knowing how much it cost to achieve such a drastic transformation without replacing countertops, cabinets, or appliances. The total surprised even me!3. Cozy Café Kitchen: Our Budget Makeover
This project brought me the most happiness out of everything I did this year. And bonus, it was on my list of things to accomplish in 2020! I didn't even remember that I had put this down as a goal, but I'm thrilled to have it done. I love being in the kitchen now. 2. Custom Drapes For the Master Bedroom
Installing custom drapes in our master bedroom was a nice surprise at the beginning of the year. I have never had truly custom draperies, so it was fun to work with Willow Bloom and experience their level of craftsmanship. I can see why this post came in at #2. 1. Reading Nook Before and After
The fact that our Reading Nook Before and After came in at #1 is no surprise to me. Every time I post this little space, you just eat it up. I get it. Sometimes I just sit and stare at it because it's such a beautiful, unique little nook of my home. Now I just can't wait for the family room to catch up!
Year In Review | Projects Completed
Compiling the list of projects completed this year was a hard pill to swallow. At first glance, it looks like I didn't get much done. However, when I consider that I did every single project on my own, from start to finish, and I stepped into full-time homeschooling, I'm unbelievably proud...and pretty tired.

Plans and Goals for 2021
I was one of the ones who thought 2020 was going to be the best year ever, and while I may not have gotten as far as I would like with home projects, I completed everything on my short list except the loft. When I looked back at the year-in-review post from last year, I couldn't believe it...I had actually done what I set out to do, minus one space. I never even touched the list of things I wanted to accomplish after the short list of projects was done, but hey, progress is progress, and I'll just roll those things over into this year and see where I land by the end of 2021. "In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps" (Proverbs 16:10). Am I right? This is my list from last year, plus new projects I've added based on our needs for the coming year...
- Completely finish Noelle's room (it's so close).
- Loft renovation into a library/school room.
- Adding windows in the front living room, master bedroom, and Noelle’s room.
- Fireplace floor-to-ceiling build out.
- Girls' upstairs linen closet remodel.
- Replacing our front door.
- Framing out all windows (I'm slowly working on this room by room, but I should be done in 2021).
- Dining room makeover (would love to do this for the spring One Room Challenge).
- Master bathroom temporary makeover.
- Powder bath renovation (I’ve had this one planned since before we moved in).
- Hardwoods throughout our home.

I wrote these words last year, and they are just as true now as they were then...Wildflower Home is a one-woman show put on by a stay-at-home mom who is trying to balance alllllllll the things: marriage, law enforcement family life, raising tween and teenage daughters, homeschooling, keeping house, helping to run our family’s nonprofit, and working towards a healthier version of myself. One might think I’m crazy for even trying to keep up with a blog, but I fell in love with the process, and though I consider walking away from it several times every week (true story), I always come back to my love of all things creative and beautiful, and I come back to YOU. You are a huge part of why I do this and what keeps me going.
