Pinterest Faves and Saves - January Edition
Published on January 30, 2020
This is the first post of a new series I'm starting called Pinterest Faves and Saves. In each post, I'll share my favorite saved pins on Pinterest and invite you to take a look at what inspires me, sparks an idea, or pushes me to expand my design horizon. It's short and sweet but chock full of gorgeous images. Enjoy!
- Layered Curtains - Sheer Under Solid | I've been seriously considering adding a layer of sheer curtains under my solid front room drapes for privacy since I still haven't found a roman shade option I like. I even purchased some beautiful, textured sheer fabric for the project, but then I started to doubt my decision. Then I came across this image on Pinterest, and it confirmed my love of the layered curtain look. I will be completing the sheers in the next few weeks, so stay tuned for that post.
- Wide Trim on a Roman Shade | If you saw my post about the custom drapes in our master bedroom, you know I love trim detail on window treatments. Trim elevates a curtain panel or roman shade in a unique way. When I saw this pin, it inspired me to add some wide trim to the linen roman shade in our office/guest room. I already have wide trim that I didn't use for another project, so I'm just going to use that. I'll share the method I use in an upcoming post.
- Bookcases With a Contrasting Inset | This image caught my eye because of the dark, contrasting inset portion of the bookcases. I've seen light wood insets with painted frames, but never a dark inset like this. I love how unexpected it is. Also, this layout is making me reconsider the purpose of our loft. I would love to turn that cute little area into an office like this, but I'm pretty sure my family would object. Oh well, a blogger can dream right?
- Striking Color Palette | I can't get over this color palette lately. I keep seeing it, and it stops me in my tracks every time. The deep, muted blue and rust/gold are so striking yet incredibly soothing. I also like to study the composition of images and how the designer chose to style the room. I wouldn't normally think two vases filled with different stems of different colors would work, but somehow it's pure design magic here. Whittney Parkinson has a way of doing that and I'm taking note.
- Baby Grand Pianos | I don't use the word "obsessed" very often because I generally try to stay away from using hyperbole. But in the case of the baby grand, that word is the only appropriate way to describe how I feel. This living room strikes just the right balance of fancy and livable for me, and is exactly what I'm going for in my front living room.
That's it for this month's Pinterest Faves and Saves. I really enjoyed putting this post together because it made me revisit my Pinterest boards and extract the images that truly inspired me. Tell me which pin is your favorite in the comments below and why!
