Plans for Our Girls' Bathroom Update

Shortly after we moved into our forever home (read the story here), our girls' shower leaked into the master bathroom below. Though the water damage was minimal, the leak put the upstairs bathroom on our radar. Upon further examination, we realized that the outdated light fixture was the only thing holding up the wall-to-wall mirror! This discovery of course moved the girls' bathroom to the top of the home improvement list for obvious safety reasons. The more time we spent in that space, the more we realized the entire bathroom needed an update, so I got to work creating a fresh and elegant design plan.Here are some Before Photos:This is the light fixture that was holding that giant mirror up! For safety reasons, we have removed the mirror already.I love the potential of this cute little window. However, I do not love the door that separates the vanity area from the toilet/shower area. It would be ideal to replace it with a pocket door, but that would push our budget way out of the comfort zone, take too much time, and would create a domino effect of other changes in the room. I found out later that pocket doors are not recommended in bathrooms due to moisture problems. Good to know!This is the shower that leaked and began this whole girls' bathroom update. Instead of replacing the tub, we have decided to have it re-glazed in order to save on budget, timeline, and hassle. It will end up being bright white, and while I would love a whole new tub, this one is in excellent condition and has a lot of life left in it.We are re-purposing this vanity and I can't wait to show you all the clever ways we are planning to bring it up to date!When Black Friday rolled around, just one month after we moved in, we really had to prioritize what we needed for our new home since it would have been easy to get carried away. You can see what items we decided on in this post. I knew I wanted to replace that wall-to-wall mirror with two individual mirrors and a light fixture in between. When I saw these beautiful, affordable mirrors from Target and this Visual Comfort lighting from McGee and Co., it was easy to create a design board from there.Here is the Overall Design Plan:

[show_shopthepost_widget id="3400231"] So far, I have collected the mirrors, sconce, wallpaper, bead board and trim, dog print (already owned), wall basket, and bath mats. Since we moved in, I have been putting all of these things aside little by little so it wouldn't be such a hit to the budget to buy everything all at once. Plus, I was able to get some good deals on Black Friday. Everything else will be ordered in the coming days and weeks, and I hope to be done with the girls' bathroom update sooner than later.
