Pop of Color Christmas Porch

Published on December 14, 2018

This Christmas porch pops with deep red against seasonal greenery. The contrasting colors and use of vintage items welcomes guests in a unique and festive way.

The Idea

I was unsure if Christmas decor would happen this year in our new house. Moving has been taxing both emotionally and physically. My heart's desire was to decorate the porch, but I thought this might be the year I didn't pull it off. . I am happy to report however, that Christmas has shown up at our house. I'm excited to share my Pop of Color Christmas Porch with you!

The Wreath

The half-circle window at the top of our front door isn't my favorite. So, I hung a wreath with a wide ribbon over it. I happened upon this extremely realistic-looking faux cedar wreath at TJ Maxx, and I will be using it for many Christmases to come because I love it.[show_shopthepost_widget id="3407748"]

Pop of Color and Meaning

I love to use sentimental items in my decorating and Christmas is no different. These ice skates belonged to my husband's mother, and I love pulling them out each year. They look so wintry and festive, especially sitting on top of my favorite front porch rug. In order to make it work under this oversized welcome mat, I purchased the 4 x 6 size and folded the top under a bit.

Pop of Red

These deep red Christmas ornaments from Hobby Lobby add the perfect pop of color to the cute little trees I purchased at Home Depot.Wool blankets are synonymous with cold weather and Christmas, so when I spotted this vintage red plaid blanket, I knew it belonged on my porch with my vintage sleigh.I've had this sleigh for several years. Every Christmas I find a new way to use it that makes me fall in love with it all over again. The birch branches add just the right natural touch to finish off the sleigh. With the inside of our house still feeling disheveled from the move, it is a wonderful feeling to have one completed space decorated for Christmas. My Pop of Color Christmas Porch is a wonderful way for my family to welcome this season's guests, as well as usher in our first Christmas in our forever home (read the full story here).I hope this inspires you to sprinkle some color into your Christmas decor and make your front porch cheerful for your friends and family.[show_shopthepost_widget id="3407748"] *Affiliate links are used in this post.
